The Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre, which opened in 2005, is operated by the Municipality of Red Lake and governed by a seven member board of directors appointed by Council.
Vision Statement
The Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre (RLRHC) is a hub for the region and is culturally and historically active and vibrant. It is more than a museum; it is a learning centre for everyone and a welcoming and interesting place for locals and visitors alike – it is a destination point and a source of community pride.
Mission Statement
Working in partnership with the community, the municipality and key stakeholders, the RLRHC is a leader in the preservation, promotion and celebration of the region’s natural and cultural heritage. This mission is fulfilled by:
- Providing education and awareness that bridges the past to the future and creates jobs, careers, and learning opportunities;
- Developing relationships that contribute to and enhance local and regional economic, cultural, social and environmental ventures;
- Strengthening Red Lake’s positive identity locally, nationally and internationally.

Create and maintain financial viability by:
- Increasing and diversifying attendance and revenue sources
- Reducing expenditures by cost-sharing with other organizations whenever feasible
- Seeking sponsorships and donations for special projects and equipment
- Using modern technology to increase productivity and efficiency
Increase appreciation and understanding of the area’s heritage by:
- Developing innovative exhibitions and programs that reflect Red Lake’s history, culture and unique identity
- Collaborating with other cultural institutions in presenting provincial, national and international online and traveling exhibitions
- Offering school programs that increase the community’s pride in its heritage
