A One Way Ticket: Red Lake’s Immigration Story This online exhibit features a collection of 46 immigrant stories; over 750 photos of local families, individuals, and related immigration documents; and highlights major world events and Canadian government strategies and policies which influenced the immigrants’ decisions to come to Canada. The purpose of the exhibit is to bring to life the physical and emotional journey traveled by many immigrants who found their way to live and work in the Red Lake District of Ontario. It also acknowledges the contributions these pioneers made in building the prosperous and vibrant community that Red Lake is today. The website was developed by the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre and was made possible with funding provided by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture through their Museums and Technology Fund.
Visitor’s Guide to the Red Lake / Ear Falls District This guide was published by the Red Lake Museum in 2000. The publication contained a historical tour of the area highlighting Aboriginal history, the Fur Trade Era, the gold rush and gold mining operations of the area as well as social and recreational resources available in the region.
Norval Morrisseau in Red Lake In 2001 this exhibit traveled to the following communities in Manitoba: Leaf Rapids, The Pas, Thompson, Brandon and Winnipeg. It received rave reviews everywhere it went. Here is a reproduction of the catalogue which accompanied the exhibition.
Banner Art Gallery View a dazzling display of individually designed and hand-painted banners completed by local artists of various ages, cultural backgrounds and experience.The images showcase many themes, including our rich Aboriginal culture, our magnificent wildlife, and our healthy lifestyle. This project ran for five years between 2004 and 2009.
Residential Schools - The Red Lake Story This exhibit was created by our institution to complement a national exhibition titled Where are the Children? Healing the Legacy of Residential Schools, which we hosted from February 1 to April 30, 2006.
Aviation Image Database Search the on-line aviation database for images of aircraft, the pilots and passengers that flew into the Red Lake gold camp during the early years of exploration and development in the area.
