Overview
Come to Red Lake and
discover one of Northwestern Ontario’s most vibrant and prolific
artistic communities. Our latest project is the Banner Art Gallery,
a dazzling display of 50 individually designed and hand-painted
banners. The images showcase many themes, including our rich Aboriginal
culture, our magnificent wildlife, and our healthy lifestyle.
Artists of various
ages, cultural backgrounds and experience in the arts have participated
in this project. The youngest artists are the Senior Kindergarten class
from the Golden Learning Centre, who created a class banner. At
81, Lois Beck is our senior participant. The banner artists are
comprised of professional artists who sell their work
internationally, talented youth planning to pursue a career in the
arts, and individuals who love to paint and wanted to contribute to
this unique community project.
The banners are bright
and bold, and speak of a lifestyle and heritage we appreciate to its
fullest and are happy to share with our visitors.
