Materials
  • Brass Craft Ring
  • Leather Cord
  • String or Sinew
  • Ribbon
  • Beads
  • Feathers
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
Steps
Part One: The Hoop
  1. Using a glue gun, attach the leather cord to the craft ring.
  2. Wrap the leather cord around the craft ring until it's completely covered.
Part Two: The Web
  1. Tie a double knot at the "top" of the ring.
  2. Loop the string/sinew around the hoop until you complete a round.
    1. Try to keep the sections as even an taut as possible.
    2. You want 6-8 sections strung around the hoop.
    3. The dreamcatcher uses this same stitch from start to finish.
  3. To begin the next round, begin by making another loop in the middle of the string from the previous round (rather than around the hoop), and continue until this round is done.
    1. The web should be forming triangles or a star like pattern.
  4. Add beads as desired.
  5. Repeat step 3 are you continue to add rounds to your web until a small circle forms in the middle.
    1. As you pull each loop tight, the string from the previous round should bend towards the center of the hoop slightly.
  6. Tie off your web with a double knot and cut off any excess string.
Part Three: The Decorations
  1. Attach feathers or beads to the leather cord.
    1. For store bought feathers, simply snip off the very tip of the shaft. This should create a hollow space where the cord can be fed through and secured with hot glue.
  2. Ribbons and other strips of material can also be looped around the base of the hoop.
  3. Using any excess string or cord, create a loop at the top of the hoop so you can hang your dreamcatcher.
And you're done, congratulations!
